On May 16, Wheeler Huntington Service Center hosted an open house for the public to tour the inside of the facility and learn about the work that is done at the business. Wheeler Machinery is the official distributor for all Caterpillar mining products.
Senator David Hinkins attended the event to show his support. There was a big turnout and many people toured the facility and enjoyed a luncheon.
The Wheeler Huntington Service Center rebuilds longwall and conventional mining equipment machines and components for customers in Lapaz, Mexico to Saskatchewan, Canada and everywhere in between including Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. They also perform component repairs for customers in Illinois, Ohio and Alabama. The services offered include mechanical, geared products, welding, machining, hydraulics and electronics. The facility includes 100 ton lifting capacity, test voltages of 480, 995, 2300, and 4160, and soft start capability.
The staff of 65 highly qualified, fully trained and dedicated long-term employees perform these services at the Huntington facility and at their customers’ locations often in an underground coal, potash or phosphate mine.
