Over 200 participants competed in the Down and Dirty Mud Race Saturday morning. The 5K course lead competitors through muddy marshes, obstacles and down a muddy canal.
Immediately following the mud race, children participated in a miniature version of the event by slipping and sliding through an equally muddy course.
A tug-of-war competition concluded the muddy festivities as teams showed their strength to earn money for the Oakley Giraud Foundation. Over $200 was raised from entry fees and the mud race committee matched this amount. Funds will be used to support ongoing research for Leber Congenital Amaurosis (LCA), a rare retinal degenerative disease.
All three events were part of the Carbon County Fair.
