Four people, including two juveniles, were injured when the vehicle in which they were traveling rolled off Avalanche Road into a ditch at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 7.
According to Carbon County Sheriff Sgt. Tory Christiansen, the vehicle’s driver, 18-year-old Thad Gurule, allegedly began drifting and lost control when he overcorrected.
The vehicle rolled approximately 70 feet.
All four victims, including 18-year-old Vanessa Hasen, were rushed to Castle View Hospital after being ejected from the vehicle. One of the juveniles was sent north via Life Flight.
Authorities said the injuries were exactly what they would expect in such a case.
Christiansen said, “Kids should slow down under the speed limit on these dirt roads because [the roads] dangerous.”
Carbon County Sheriff Capt. Guy Adams also refuted facts reported by other news outlets saying they were “misinformed.”
