Safely and responsibly dispose of old computers, monitors, televisions (including those old heavy CRT units) and other electronic devices for free.
The Carbon County Green Team is partnering with Helper City to enable local residents and businesses the opportunity to dispose of their e-waste in an environmentally responsible fashion. Most electronic devices may be recycled at this event, even automotive lead/acid batteries.
In an effort to encourage responsible disposal and recycling, Helper City has agreed to pay the fees normally charged, which are up to $.25 a pound for televisions and monitors and $2 for each automotive battery. Helper City is also paying the $300 service charge for the event.
All item parts will be recycled by Metech. They will shred hard drives containing personal information. Certificate of Destruction will be issued by email.
The Green Team is grateful to Helper City for providing area residents and businesses this opportunity. They encourage residents and businesses to take advantage and dispose of their broken, obsolete or unused electronic devices.
The e-waste disposal event will take place Saturday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Helper City Hall parking lot.
