The Utah State University – College of Eastern Utah Lady Eagles used incredible defensive effort and a huge Priscila Santos night to upend Colorado Northwestern 77-54 Friday night in Price.
Santos, the Nation’s leading scorer, posted a double-double with 33 points and 10 rebounds.
“Our intensity on defense was suffocating [during] the first eight minutes,” said USU Easter head coach Dave Paur.
The Lady Eagles held CNCC to 38-percent shooting throughout the game.
Paur said his team really focused on defense in practice, and the effort forced CNCC “to come out and hit a brick wall.”
Paur said his team needed to work on possessing the ball and preventing points-off-turnovers.
The Lady Eagles improved to 6-6 on the season and 1-0 in SWAC play.
A recording of the game will be broadcast in the coming weeks.
