Gold Bracket Winners - CNC Fabrication from Hyde Park

Pink was the theme at a fundraiser softball tournament over the weekend as teams competed in Battin’ For Boobies. The annual tournament aims to shine light on Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place each October, as well as raise funds to assist local cancer patients.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better day to host the tournament,” event organizer Rochelle Badback said. “The weather was absolutely perfect. I’m already looking forward to another successful tournament next year.”

The event, in its third year, drew 19 teams from throughout Utah to compete. Tournament pool play determined which double elimination bracket each team was placed in. In the silver bracket, Tony’s Taco from Heber City came out on top while CNC Fabrication from Hyde Park was deemed the winner of the gold bracket.

According to Badback, early estimates suggest that over $4,000 was raised at the charity event. These funds will benefit LIVE.LOVE.LOCAL, a cancer assistance program headed by the United Way of Eastern Utah.

Local businesses, organizations and citizens were on board to help raise these funds, including Carbon County Recreation, Pepsi Cola Co., Karolyn Romero, Swire Coca-Cola, C&E Custom Tees, USU-Eastern Softball and the USU Eastern Sun Center and United Way of Eastern Utah.

“Thank you to our amazing sponsors,” Badback said.
