Carbon’s 4-3 win over American Leadership Academy on Tuesday set up an opening round matchup against South Summit. The two teams went at it on Saturday in the first round of the 3A State Tournament.
The Lady Dinos grabbed a commanding lead early to grab the victory. They scored four runs in the first and five more in the second to go up 9-0. They would go on to win by a score of 12-2 to remain in the winner’s bracket.
Dekota Kraushaar and Clarissa Noyes each had three RBIs for the Lady Dinos. Noyes hit a three-run blast and Kennedy Nelson added a two-run homer of her own. Brooke Moosman and Kraushaar did the pitching for Carbon and only gave up five combined hits in the contest.
Up next, Carbon (Region 14 #3) will face Manti (Region 15 #1). The Dinos will look to limit mistakes as Manti holds the best pitcher in the classification. That game is slated for Thursday at 2 p.m. in Spanish Fork.
