An intoxicated driver managed to start a blaze on Old Welling ton Road last Thursday after he ran his car off into a ditch and catch the dry weeds on fire. Emmett Adair, 46, was able to get out of the vehicle and was standing on the side of the road as the police arrived on the scene.
The resulting crash set the roadside and automobile ablaze and the car was a total loss. Fire units were dispatched to the scene and the fire was extinguished.
Adair was cited for Driving Under the Influence.
