After 20 years of teaching at a Green River school and an additional 12 years of being an aide, teaching English as a second language and substitute teaching, Kaye Nelson is retiring.
On Friday, May 17, Book Cliff Elementary celebrated her years of service with her colleagues and family. A lunch was provided, where Principal Gaylene Erwin thanked Nelson for her years of service and talked about how much they are going to miss her. Principal Erwin described some of the difficulties Nelson faced, like teaching two grades. JR Jones, the Elementary Supervisor, also thanked Nelson for her dedication to the school and her students. A fellow teacher, Pamila Hunt, shared a short bio about Nelson and supplied her with a gift from the school.
Nelson looks forward to spending more time with her two granddaughters and working her large garden in retirement.
