The Region 15 Swim Championship took place at the Emery County Aquatic Center on Thursday as the Emery Spartans welcomed teams to Castle Dale.
Emery started off strong, winning back-to-back events in the girls’ and boys’ 200 medley relays. An Emery boys’ team would also win the 400 free relay while an EHS girls’ team finished second in the 200 and 400 free relays.
The Lady Spartans dominated the 100 fly, taking the top four spots, Kaelee Hooley (1st), Sydney Terwilleger (2nd), BriAnne Bass (3rd) and Makyan Nielson (4th). Haley Guymon won the 200 IM and 100 breast while Alexis Johansen took the 500 free.
Alexis finished second in the 200 free, coming up short of first by 35 hundredths of a second. Then, Hooley and Abby Johansen ended second and third, respectively, in the 50 free. Abby also took third in the 500 free. Hannah Morris finished on the podium when she placed third in the 100 free. Later on, Terwilleger had another second place finish in the 100 back.
Keldan Guymon won the 50 free by five tenths of a second while Asher Beagley finished third in the event. Keldan would also end up on top by less than a second in the 100 fly. Deegan Minchey placed first in the 100 back followed by Parker Stilson in second. Minchey and Stilson reached the podium again when Minchey placed second in the 200 free and Stilson third in the 100 free.
