Students and staff at Bruin Point Elementary united during the first week of school to show their support for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) by taking part in the ice bucket challenge.
Principal Stacy Basinger took part in the challenge with the help of the students from the school. Students and staff poured freezing water on themselves to raise awareness. Basinger then challenged principals from Creekview, Sally Mauro, Castle Heights and Wellington elementary schools.
On Monday, John Thomas from Creekview Elementary accepted the challenge. Staff members poured a full bucket of ice over Thomas in front of an excited student body.
