The 13U Pacific Southwest Regional Babe Ruth tournament kicked off on Monday in Carbon County.
Following the opening ceremonies, the Kai Red Sox from Hawaii defeated Tri-Valley 12-4. In the next matchup, Beaver led South Tahoe for the majority of the game until South Tahoe scored two in the bottom of the sixth and three more in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 5-4 victory. Next, El Segundo blew out Eastside 21-2 while Carbon nearly came back with two outs in the seventh. Carbon’s rally came up just short as it fell 3-2 under the lights.
Games on Tuesday are as follows: Tri-Valley will play Beaver at 10:30 a.m. Then, at 1 p.m., Eastside and Carbon will face off. The losers of those two games will be eliminated from the tournament. The Kai Red Sox and South Tahoe will square off at 4 p.m. and the final game of the day will be at 6:30 p.m. between El Segundo and Hanford. All games will be played at the Gardner Field in Helper.
