Carbon visited Providence Hall on Tuesday to open up region play.
The Dinos got out to an early 3-0 lead, scoring two runs in the first and one in the second. The Patriots tied the game at three in the bottom of the second before Carbon was able to record an out. The Dinos got out of trouble with a strikeout and a double play that switched the momentum back in their favor.
They were able to add one in the fourth and three in the third to take a 7-3 lead, but Providence Hall would not go away. The Patriots came roaring back to tie the game at seven to enter the last inning. Carbon was seemingly done messing around and exploded for eight runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach and win its first region game by a score of 15-7.
Ty Anderson, Braxton Bennett and Kaleb Nelson all had three RBIs in the contest. Bennett and Collin Lewis went 3-5 and each scored a run. Anderson had two triples to his name and Nelson had a double. Bennett struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up two earned runs on six hits.
A rematch between the two teams is scheduled to take place on Friday in Price.
