Carbon County Animal Shelter Announces Lower Adoption Fees

Toward the end of March, the Carbon County Animal Shelter announced that they would be lowering fees to help cats and dogs housed at the shelter in finding their forever homes.

Starting on March 26, spayed or neutered dogs are now $100 each, while dogs that have not yet been spayed or neutered are $50. All of the cats now cost $25 to adopt, and the individual that adopts an animal that is not spayed or neutered will be responsible for that to happen. They will sign a form at the time of adoption that reads that they agree to follow the law.

According to Utah State Law, there is a time allowance of 30 days to have the animal that was adopted spayed or neutered, or when a kitten or puppy is of age or weight. The form will be filled out by a staff member and the adopter. Following this, the adopter is responsible for giving the form to the veterinarian to sign the day of the surgery.

The form must then be returned to the shelter as proof that the law was followed. The staff will be keeping a close eye on the dates and will enforce the law if needed.

“It’s very important to us that we help make sure this law is followed to help protect the cat or dog’s health, and to help keep down the overpopulation of cats and dogs,” the shelter shared. “Thank you Carbon County for your support.”
