Carbon County Commission Discusses Energy Concerns

Carbon County Commissioners met with Samantha Julian from the Utah State Office of Energy Development on Wednesday to discuss area energy production.

The OED was newly formed to work with energy producers and rural communities to encourage local energy development.

Commissioners and Julian discussed local energy production methods, such as hydraulic fracturing, and carbon footprints in local areas.

Julian said the OED was looking forward to working with area energy producers.

Notes:

  • Commissioners tabled a vote that could award Carbon County Jail commissary services to Swanson Services. Commissioners said they had several concerns about the contract that would need to be resolved.
  • Commissioners met with Hilltop Subdivision residents about paving the subdivision and designating it as a County road. Commissioners said they wanted to study the issue and determine a definite cost before approving any action.
  • Commissioners approved the issuance and sale of $1 million in bonds for Animal Control Center.
