Cade Brazier (EHS) and Keaton Rich (CHS) each got the ball for their respective teams. There was little offense from either side through the first handful of innings. Rich and Braxton Bennett combined for four scoreless innings for the Dinos while Brazier kept pace.
Carbon broke through in the fifth on Rich’s two-RBI double. Emery opened the door with three consecutive errors to begin the inning and cumulated five in the fifth alone. Carbon toook advantage of the miscues and put up six runs. The Spartans never got close as the Dino’s continued to pour in the runs for an 11-3 victory.
Carbon pitchers (Rich, Bennett, Colin Lewis and Kaleb Nelson) did a good job of limiting the Spartan bats. They only allowed five combined hits in the contest. Rich and Lewis each had two RBIs and a double for Carbon.
Brazier pitched well for the Spartans but did not receive any help behind him. He struck out six batters over five and a third innings while giving up two earned runs.
