The Carbon Varsity squad got two much-needed wins against Uintah Thursday night in Helper.
In game one, Carbon used a solid five-inning performance from Anthony Maclean to secure the 7-1 win. Carbon plated four runs in the fourth inning on single from Chase Morgan, Tiger Thayn and Dallyn Mower before Jayden Flemett cleared the bases with a triple. The team added three more in the fifth on a couple of walks and two singles by Taylon Abeyta and Thayn, two runs of which came off of Thayn’s single.
In game two, Carbon was able to slip passed Uintah 6-5.
“Jayden Flemett started and pitched four solid innings and picked up the win,” said head coach Jeff Cisneros. “He allowed four runs in his four innings but this was Jayden’s best pitching performance since coming back from a broken arm that he suffered against Emery in the high school season.” Abeyta came in for the final three innings and allowed just one run.
Carbon had its biggest inning in the third in which Morgan and Flemett each nailed RBI singles. The team added single runs in the first and sixth innings, respectively.
No games are scheduled for the week of July 6-12 due to the state of Utah’s all-sport moratorium. The Utah’s Perfect Game League schedule will continue on July 13.
