The Carbon High School Swim Team hit the road recently and traveled to face off against Richfield on Wednesday. The boys and girls teams would also swim against North Sanpete High School and Wasatch Academy during the meet and, despite taking a small number of swimmers, both took home second place finishes.
Among the Lady Dinos swimming at Wednesday’s meet, Megan Swasey, Veronica Ibanez, Sadie Crompton and Kasha Lott brought home a nail-biting first-place finish in the Girls 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:09.37, with Richfield coming in behind by a mere millisecond.
Crompton and Pendleton again showed strong swimming in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Crompton taking the first place finish at 1:18.57 and Pendleton taking second.
The first-place finishing 200-yard medley relay team then returned with Ibanez, Lott, Swasey and Crompton coming back for another first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 4:30.96, more than a whole minute before Richfield’s second-place finish.
The boys team contributed to the overall second-place score with Joseph Keller taking the first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle coming in at 2:06.97 and again taking first in the 500-yard freestyle with a a time of 5:56.05, nearly a minute before Richfield’s second-place finisher.
Keller returned in the 200-yard freestyle relay along with team members Tyson Swasey, Harry Torgerson and Kaden Earl for another first-place finish and a time of 1:41.76.
The Carbon High Swim Team is next scheduled to travel again, this time to Grand, on Saturday. It will then face off against hometown rivals, Emery High Spartans, on Jan. 19 in Price.
