Carbon played Tri-Valley in the quarterfinals of the Pacific Southwest Region Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament on Thursday and did not disappoint. Carbon was able to grab the win against a very good Tri-Valley team as Peyton Molinar laid out in center for the game saving, final out as Carbon held on to the 7-5 victory.
Carbon then had to play the Kai Red Sox in the semis in a game that had no shortage of runs. Carbon took at 4-2 lead in the first but then went down 12-6. Carbon was able to battle back and tie the game at 12 until the Red Sox scored the last nine runs of the ball game. The Red Sox went on to win 21-12, but the score does not show how close the game really was. Carbon battled hard throughout the tournament but ran out of steam to get knocked out.
The Red Sox will have a rematch against El Segundo on Friday at 12 p.m. If the Red Sox win that contest, then a second game will be played right after for the championship.
