The Carbon School District Child Nutrition Program serves free breakfast for all students K-12 through a new pilot program.
“Studies show students who eat breakfast have better attention and memory,” explained child nutrition director Patti Rigby. “It has also been shown to improve attendance, behavior and test scores as well as decrease tardiness. There has been a focus on a federal level to provide breakfast to all students across the nation and now we have the opportunity to try it. We hope they will take advantage of it.”
Carbon School District Superintendent Steve Carlsen promoted the program and is tackling the logistics of feeding up to 3,000 students in a 30 minute time frame.
