The Lady Dinos soccer team traveled to North Sevier High School for their first away game of the season on Thursday.
A strong start secured the win for Carbon when they netted the ball after only three minutes. Jordyn Oman scored the only goal in the game, earning the Dinos a 1-0 win.
The defensive end has showed promise for Carbon as well this year. After three games, the Dinos have not allowed a single goal. Jaylie Jensen heads defense as goalie for the team.
“I am thinking this is the first time in carbon history that they have went 3-0 from the start of the season,” coach Amber Smith said. “Our defense is solid.”
With less memorable years in the past of girls soccer for Carbon, this year’s team has changed for the better. Smith attributes the shift to leadership throughout the team.
“I think this year there is a really good group of girls,” Smith explained. “We have some leaders that have stepped up. We have these girls that have played other sports and are encouraging their teammates. They have a different mentality. They really want it.”
The Lady Dinos will look to continue their winning streak at home against South Sevier on Sept. 2 at 4 p.m.
