A two-run blast by Manti’s Abby Hatch in the top of the first inning put the Lady Dino’s softball team behind, and though they battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the first and again in the sixth, their opponent’s 13 hits were just too much for the home team in their March 22 game.
It was the second heartbreaking loss to the Templars for the Carbon team in just four days. The first was on March 18 at the Snow Canyon Tournament, when the Lady Dinos lost 9-8 despite Megan Tubbs hitting a both a homerun and a double in the game. Tuesday’s game brought two additional foes, with gusting wind and cold, but the Dinos didn’t give up despite being put in a hole so soon in the game. They matched Manti’s output with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first.
Then, down 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Carbon’s resilience was again illustrated as they scored two, allowed their opponents just three trips to the plate in the top of the sixth, and scored three more runs in the top of the inning, tying the score at 7. The Dino’s heroics were dashed though, when Manti responded with three more runs, putting the game out of reach.
This exciting game will air on ETV 10 tomorrow, Friday, March 25, at 3 p.m. Tune in to watch the game on your local channel.
