Carbon Swim Team Faces Off Against Local Rivals, Take Second

Looking for an overall victory over local rival Emery High School as well as fellow visiting opponents Wasatch Academy, Gunnison Valley, North Sanpete High School and Telos Academy, Carbon Dinos were able to secure second place as a team. Both the boys and girls teams took second, trailing behind Emery by nine and eight points, respectively.

The Lady Dinos shone as the 200-yard medley relay, swam my Megan Swasey, Veronica Ibanez, Sadie Crompton and Kaisha Lott, finished in first by a margin of nearly 12 seconds ahead of Emery’s second-place finishing team. Sophomore Swasey returned to score a first-place win for the Dinos in the 50-yard freestyle finishing just 12 miliseconds ahead of Wasatch Academy’s senior Jessica Rasmussen.

The boys’ swim team showed equal drive in their events with Carbon High School Dino Harry Torgerson taking first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (6:36.28) and fellow senior Will Laursen coming in at second.

Torgerson returned in the 400-yard freestyle relay with team members Tyson Swasey, Kaden Earl and Joseph Keller to take the first-place finish at 3:48.20, beating Emery by a margin of less than a second.

The Carbon High School Swim Team will next host Canyon View High School among other opponents on Friday.
