The Lady Dinos took to the road and traveled to Tooele High School on Thursday. Carbon came out strong and gained a 2-0 lead with the help of a service ace from senior Lauren Rice. Tooele bounced back and took control of the game with a five point run and the Dinos never regained the lead, with Tooele winning the set 25-14.
In the second set, Carbon trailed by eight and was never able to gain momentum, loosing the set 15-25.
With their backs against the wall, down two sets, the Lady Dinos proved that they wouldn’t go quietly with what turned out to be a close third set. Carbon gained a 4-0 lead out of the gate, fighting hard and the two teams traded points for most of the set. Tooele turned it on when it mattered most to take the match with a third set victory of 25-21.
“I felt we lost focus and broke down, which allowed Tooele to pull away,” commented third year head coach Danielle Jensen.
Carbon was led by outside hitters Jordan Scoggins and Beth Child, each contributing four kills. Setter Lauren Rice finished the night with 12 assists. Katee Martinez lead the Dinos with 13 digs behind the big block of seniors Celeste Smith and Aubree Robinett with two a piece.
Carbon will travel to Clearfield to participate in a two-day tournament on Friday and Saturday. They will return to their home court on Tuesday for their homecoming match up against Park City High School at 6:30 p.m.
