Carbon’s Team Mentality

The Lady Dinos return to the hardwood this winter with four returning starters from last year. The only starter, Kelly Sorenson, they lost is playing for a JC in Washington state now.

Carbon participated in a number of tournaments over the summer. They competed well at the Utah Valley Jamboree and the tournament hosted at University of Utah. They also traveled to Las Vegas and played in a tournament with 16 teams from different states. They finished 5-1 in this tournament and won the championship.

As the focus turns to the regular season, head coach Ted Bianco hopes their success in the summer can carry over into the season.

“As a coaching staff, we are excited how they competed as a team and not individuals,” he said. “If you want to play in February, you have to build on that and progress forward.”

Union, Delta and Juab are projected to be the stiffest competition in the Dinos’ region. But they know that in order to go deep into state, Emery will be the team to beat.

“We have high expectations for the year, but we will take it one game at a time. We are excited to host a tournament to open the year,” Bianco concluded.
