Castle Dale City Council opened a public hearing recently for comments on Ordinance 7-13-17A. This ordinance would reduce the number of committee members on the Land Use Committee from nine to five, with two alternates. There were no public comments but Mayor Danny Van Wagoner explained that the board has a hard time getting enough members at the meeting to constitute a quorum. Thus the reason for the change. After the hearing was closed the ordinance was adopted.
Another ordinance to make it possible for a municipal body to accept and grant a temporary permit for land use for a period of six months was also discussed but tabled until the Land Use Committee could study this ordinance and make recommendations to the council.
Resolution 7-13-17 regarding the policies of Castle Dale City to grant donations, fee waivers, or services to a group or individual was discussed. This would make it necessary for any group or individual requesting any donation to present a written request for inclusion on the next city council agenda and be present at the meeting to personally make the request. The city would require something of equal value in return for the funding. The resolution was adopted with a vote of three affirmatives to two oppositions. Water bill relief or waivers will follow a previously approved Resolution #5-11-17.
Zoning Administrator Lake reported that a home business license had been granted to Angela Huntington. A temporary permit was granted to Darlene Magnuson for a short-term rental on a conditional use permit that once an ordinance is approved she will comply with this ordinance.
The ordinance enforcement officer was told that it is important to now control watering schedules. The animal control officer reported that there had been a few dog issues with unlicensed, uncontrolled dogs and citations have been issued. The fire department continues to train and is still waiting for approval of a grant.
The council meeting of July 13 was then adjourned.
