While many hospitals are closing their doors due to healthcare reform, Castleview Hospital CEO Mark Holyoak explained to Carbon County commissioners last week that the local hospital is doing just the opposite. Despite costly regulations, Castleview continues to expand its services to the community.
Part of LifePoint Health, a leading healthcare company dedicated to making communities healthier, Castleview Hospital has been serving surrounding communities since 1980. LifePoint had invested seemingly countless dollars in Castleview, ensuring the community has the services it needs. In just the last 18 months, Holyoak said LifePoint has spent $15 million to improve the local hospital.
“We know that we are here for the long haul.” Holyoak said. “There’s definitely faith in the future.”
In addition to the ICU and ER expansion currently underway at the hospital, the existing ICU, ER and pharmacy will receive renovations in the near future as they are repurposed to include respiratory therapy and the hospital’s lab. The pharmacy is expected to expand to three times its current size. Members of the community are welcome at an open house for the new ICU and ER on Sept. 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The hospital is also in the planning process for an urgent care facility in Price. Holyoak said if all goes according to plan, the facility could accept patients as early as next fall. Members of the community could expect everything from a drive-thru pharmacy to satellite physical therapy sessions at the facility.
Physician recruitment has also been a key goal of the hospital as it aims to bring in those with ties to the community. With these recruitments, patients can expect to see neurology and cardiology services offered at the hospital. Plastic surgery is also expected to take place at the hospital in the future.
Holyoak concluded by extending a special invitation to commissioners to tour the recent hospital renovations and thanked them for their constant support of the hospital and its expansion.
“We greatly benefited under your direction,” commissioner Jae Potter said to Holyoak.
