Cleveland Town Councilmen again discussed the possible Post Office closing Thursday, but the second round of discussions took on a much different tone than the first.

“When the Post Office in Helper was in threat of being closed the City wrote a petition more than 100 pages long and signed it,” Bryan Christensen said. “The building still closed.”

“The Post Office is ran by the Federal Government, and it is ran by a system so strict that everything has to be just in the right place for them to close a Post Office,” Christensen continued. “Once it gets to a point there is really no going back.”

Councilmen expressed their desire to continue to fight a possible closure; however, they realize their efforts may be in vain.

Mayor Verla Jensen said, “We’re just going to have to do the best we can.”
