The community garden at the Carbon County Food Bank is already producing food to provide fresh produce to those in need in the community. Volunteers have harvested a wide variety of vegetables and are expecting more in the near future.
“It is coming along very nice,” said Brenda Deeter, assistant food bank coordinator. “We harvested lettuce, spinach and radishes with lots more on the way.”
With plants producing rapidly, the food bank is still searching for volunteers to help weed and harvest the garden. Volunteers can donate their time between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. during the week or in the evening. Those interested in volunteering should call the Carbon County Food Bank at (435) 637-9232.
