Questions about school construction projects being finished in time for the school year dominated the discussion Wednesday at the Carbon County School Board meeting.
Board Member Jeffrey Richens discussed visiting several elementary schools where teachers haven’t been allowed into classrooms because of construction.
Richens said, “Are we actually going to get them finished before school?”
Board Member Wayne Woodward had similar concerns about projects at Mont Harmon Junior High School.
Woodward said, “Every day we drive past that Junior High thinking вЂhow are they ever going to get this done?’”
The board was assured the projects would be finished in time for the first day of school; however, the construction on the new roof at Castle Heights Elementary will continue into the school year because unexpected, extended rainfall delayed the project.
Notes:
- Superintendent Steve Carlsen noted that several students from within the district received medals at the national FCCLA competition.
- Board Members discussed the need to fix parts of the Carbon High Baseball Field. The discussion was tabled until the next meeting.
