COVID-19 Transmission Remains High in Southeast Utah

On Monday evening, the Southeast Utah Health Department announced that COVID-19 transmission remains in the high level throughout the region. This includes Carbon, Emery and Grand counties.

Monday’s report also announced 462 active cases of the virus. This includes 286 in Carbon County, 100 in Emery County and 76 in Grand County. Of these cases, 207 were reported in the past seven days.

Eight regional patients are currently hospitalized due to complications from the virus, including four each from Carbon and Emery counties. To date, 238 regional residents have been hospitalized due to COVID-19 complications. Of these, only 25 were fully vaccinated while 213 were not vaccinated.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 74 regional deaths have been attributed to the virus, including 43 in Carbon County, 25 in Emery County and six in Grand County. Five of these deaths involved fully vaccinated residents.

The health department continues to track emerging cases of the virus, including breakthrough cases. To date, 867 vaccinated residents have become infected despite being vaccinated.
