Carbon, Emery and Pinnacle high schools all participated in weekend track and field meets. Carbon and Pinnacle competed in the Uintah Invitational while the Spartans were in Manti at the Manti Temple View Qualifier.
The Dinos took home an overall second place finish (the girls took first, boys fifth) behind Stansbury, while Pinnacle finished 11th out of 12 total teams. Emery took home a sixth place finish out of 23 teams in Manti.
Carbon had two first place finishes in Vernal, with Sara Morley taking home top honors in the shot put and Lindsey Blanc finishing in first in the javelin. Eight second place finishes were recorded by the Dinos during the meet.
Pinnacle earned six points, highlighted by the girls’ sprint medley team that snagged a fourth place finish behind Carbon. The Panthers got another point by finishing eight in the boys’ 4×400.
Carbon finished the meet with 204.5 points (girls 153.5, boys 51) behind Stansbury’s 308.
The Emery Spartans’ Erin Hurst snagged a first place finish in the 3200 meters, finishing nearly 45 seconds in front of second place. Emery also had a second place finish and two thirds to its credit.
Emery finished the meet with 61 total points (girls 10th, boys sixth).
All three teams will participate in the Darrell Gardner Invitational at Emery High School on Tuesday.
