Kyle Quinton and Derek Hillam combined for 30 of Carbon’s 55 points Wednesday night against Richfield, winning the game 55-41.
Quinton led all scorers in the game with 17 points. Hillam came of the bench for a career high 13. Jamin Jensen chipped in seven points.
Knotted up at 23 at halftime, the Dinos exploded with 18 points in the third while their defense kept the Wildcats to just two total points in the quarter. The teams played even in the fourth for the Carbon win.
In their quest to host a home playoff game, the Dinos needed this victory over the Wildcats. North Sanpete beat Juab Wednesday night for its fourth win in five games to take a one game lead atop the Region 12 standings.
With the win, Carbon (10-10, 3-3 Region 12) sits just a game back of second place Canyon View, who was idle Wednesday night. The Dinos and Falcons (10-10, 3-2 Region 12) will square off Friday night in Cedar City in a game with serious playoff implications on the line. Carbon beat Canyon View at home 70-65 back on Jan. 13.
