Local Stock Car driver Shawn Parish has been driving since he was eight years old. Now at age 27, he represents the number 31JR car. The car is a IMCA Northern Sport Mod, which Parish just raced over the weekend at the Sweetwater Speedway in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Parish, along with his dad, Kenny, both placed third in their respective heats. In the A Feature 1, with 20 other cars in the event, Shawn finished in the eighth spot.

“Something I love about the sport is the adrenaline you get on the track,” said Parish. When asked about his best memory from racing, he replied, “when I won the IMCA Stock Car Hunter Machine Challenge in Delta, Utah and my greatest achievement is probably making a few main events in Yuma Arizona at Cocopah Speedway.”

When asked about a message he has for younger drivers in the sport, Parish answered, “My message for a younger driver would be to just keep digging and working hard. Races are won in the shop, not on the track.”
