Utah Valley University hosted the 3A State Drill competition on Thursday and Friday. The teams were divided into four pods of four teams, where the top two teams of each pod advanced to the final. It was an all Region 12 pod as Canyon View, Carbon, Emery and Grand faced off against one another.
Canyon View came into the tournament as the favorite and promptly grabbed one of the finalists’ spots. The Dino Dynamics leapfrogged Grand to take the final qualifying spot, leaving Emery and Grand out of the final day. On Friday, the remaining teams battled it out, leaving Canyon View alone as the 3A State Champion.
North Sanpete came in second with Juan Diego in third, Juab in fourth and Union in fifth. While Carbon did not place, the Dino Dynamics did make the cut and reached championship Friday. Congratulations to both teams for their hard work throughout the year!
