Emery was impressive at bat on Saturday, sweeping past Gunnison in the 12-2 non-region matchup.
Emery got off to a quick start, notching two runs in the first. Keeping Gunnison scoreless, the Spartans notched two more in the second. Gunnison answered with a run of its own in the third while Emery had its most impressive inning of the game, running home four times. The Spartans earned two runs apiece in the fourth and fifth innings to round out the scoring.
Bryce Dugmore got the win on the mound.
The Spartans will travel to take on San Juan on Tuesday. The team will then wrap up region play on Friday against Monticello.
