Emery split its pair of State Tournament games on Saturday in Cedar City to advance to the tournament’s third round.
Geren Payne helped the Spartans to an 8-7 victory over Wasatch by recording the win in game one.
After an error-laden sixth inning helped Wasatch take a 7-6 lead, Emery plated two runs in the seventh inning and held on for victory.
Kash Jewkes led the offense with a home run and double. Nick Stoddard and Tappan Draper also recorded doubles, and Nathan Mecham slammed a triple.
A Spartan error in the first inning led to six Canyon View runs in game two, and Emery was unable to recover. Canyon View won the game 7-1.
Emery will meet Cedar High in the one-loss bracket at 1:30 on Thursday at Dixie High School in St. George.
