The Carbon boys traveled to the Spartan Center on Friday for their first matchup of the season. With scoring troubles and turnovers affecting the Dinos, the Spartans outscored them in all but one quarter. Emery ended the game with a rivalry win, 58-39, as the Spartans broke their three-game skid.
Luke Justice continued his impressive season, scoring 20 for the Spartans to go with his four assists and a steal. Creek Sharp had some solid playing time, getting seven points, two assists, a steal and a block.
Defensively, the Spartans were great, getting a total of 17 steals against the Dinos. Zack Tuttle kept his hands moving, intercepting the ball five times on the night. He added on 12 points, five boards, five assists and a block.
Also with five takeaways on the defensive end was Wade Stilson. With another strong showing for his team, he added on 10 rebounds, six points and two assists. Mason Stilson was a terror for the Dinos, racking up four steals, seven points, three assists and three boards.
For Carbon, the Dinos had a nice night going up and getting the rebounds, with 34 at the end of the game. Ryker Butler had nine of his own to go with his four points and a block.
Kahner Raby ended the game with nine points for the Dinos, shooting 57%. He tacked on 11 rebounds as well, getting a near double-double. Zeke Wilson had a couple nice looking three pointers to go along with his four assists.
The Dinos will face off against the Canyon View Falcons (10-4) on Wednesday in Cedar City. As for the Spartans, they will take on the North Sanpete Hawks (6-8) at home the same night. Both will be region games.
