The Emery Spartans thrashed South Sevier in a region contest on Thursday afternoon.
The first half was all Emery as the Spartans notched six goals while only letting one in, taking a 6-1 lead into halftime. After the break, the Spartans put in one more and shutout South Sevier to take the 7-1 win.
Brock Winter was a force for Emery, scoring three of the team’s goals. Bryan McCandles, Colten Childs, Gage Mangum and Spencer Hadfield each recorded one goal apiece for the Spartans.
Emery (4-3, 2-1 Region 15) sits in second in Region 15 standings behind the Grand Red Devils. The Spartans will look for another win on Tuesday, this time against Richfield (3-4, 1-3 Region 14). Kickoff will be at 4 p.m. at Emery High School.
