Emery High wrestlers set four new records for the school at the 3A State Tournament this year. These records included taking third place as a team, having three state champions and having five wrestlers in the finals. Hayes Dalton also made history for the Spartans as the first wrestler to secure two state titles.
Emery scored an impressive 208 points, falling just short of Morgan with 227 points and Juab’s third state win with 301 points. Accumulating those points for the Emery Squad were Bryar Meccariello (152), Hayes Dalton (182) and Braden Howard (220), all who were champions in their respective weight classes.
Reserve champions Byron Christiansen (126) and Jarin Allen (132) took second followed by third place finisher Merritt Meccariello (113) with Dwain Farley (132) and Easton Thornley (220) in fourth, all adding to the total team score.
Other grapplers putting scores on the board were Sid Christiansen (113), Kayden World (120), Maddex Christman (170) and James Richardson (285). Emery had 25 state qualifiers.
This was an exciting season for the Emery High wrestling team and coaches Kirk Christiansen, Justin Thornley, Gratt Dalton, Korby Christiansen, Blake Greenhalgh, Troy Suwyn and Gus Dalton.
