Over 350 law enforcement and private industry personnel from all parts of Utah recently gathered at the Emery High School auditorium to attend a training seminar presented by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman. The Bullet Proof Mind for Workplace Safety seminar was hosted by PacifiCorps Hunter Power Plant and the Emery County Sheriff’s Office.
Presenter Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is a retired lieutenant colonel from the United States Army. As an Airborne Ranger infantry officer and a prior-service sergeant and paratrooper, he has over 23 years of experience in leading U.S. soldiers worldwide. He is an American author who has specialized in the study of the psychology of killing, which has been termed “killology.”
In this new field, Grossman has made revolutionary new contributions to the understanding of killing in war, the psychological costs of war, the root causes of the current “virus” of violent crimes that is raging around the world, and in the processes used to help victims of violence heal, in times of both peace and war.
Lt. Col. Grossman was a West Point psychology professor, Professor of Military Science and an Army Ranger. He is the author of “On Killing,” which was nominated for a Pulitzer and is on the required reading list of the U.S. Marine Corps Commandment and the FBI Academy. He is also coauthor of “Warrior Mindset, Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill: A Call to Action Against TV, Movie and Video Game Violence” and “On Combat: The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and in Peace.” “On Combat” has also been placed on the U.S. Marine Corps Commandant’s required reading list.
