The Emery Spartans celebrated the graduating class of 2018 on Thursday night at the school’s annual commencement ceremony.

After the graduates led the processional to the stage, Malone Moss led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Graduates Riata Christiansen, Brans Petersen and James Behling each addressed the graduating class and audiences, speaking about their education, their last days at Emery High School and what the future will hold. Senior choir members followed up with a performance of “Hey There Delilah.”

Salutatorian Allen Durrant addressed the crowd with a speech entitled, “Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Swim.” Valedictorian Samantha Roberts delivered the last address of the night entitled “Your Attitude is Your Direction.”

Principal Steven Gordon presented the graduating class of 2018 before awarding diplomas alongside Tracey Johnson, Laurel Johansen and Marie Guymon Johnson.

Before caps and tassels flew, the graduating class joined together to sing the class song, “Halls of Emery,” under the direction of musical director David Bird.
