The Lady Dinos visited Emery for the first time this year on the tennis courts. The match would be one for the ages as it took three hours to decide a winner.
Jordynn Nicholson (EHS) won in first singles 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 over Lindsey Snow (CHS) in one of the three hour matches. Lady Dino, Nicole Swasey came through to take her contest 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 over Morgan Hughes in another marathon match-up while Ana Maria Olivas took down Emery’s Carlie Bennett 6-4, 7-5.
Both doubles games were also extremely close and took over two hours to complete. Jessie Nicholson and Haley Guymon beat out Carbon’s Alex Cartwright and Lizzie Blackburn 7-5, 6-3. Lady Spartans Megan Hess and Shaylee Grange 6-4, 6-4 narrowly defeated Kaydance Scovill and Duda Lopes.
The Spartans won the match 3-2 over their rivals, the Dinos. Emery’s head coach Gwen Nielson commented, “We were neck in neck on every point. It took so long we played until we ran out of light.”
The Region 12 tennis tournament is scheduled for October 4th in Monroe.
