The Emery Spartans hosted the Uintah Utes in both teams’ season openers.
Outscored 22-3 by the Utes in two games last season, the Spartans were looking for payback. Unfortunately, it was much like last season with the Utes crushing the Spartans 13-0 this go round.
Emery managed just four hits in the loss compared to Uintah’s 14. Kyler Stilson was credited with the loss on the mound. The Utes had their biggest inning in the fifth, in which they scored eight runs.
Emery (0-1, 0-0 Region 15) will travel this weekend to the Montrose, Colo. tournament for three games on Friday and Saturday.
