Union’s Holden Hullinger nailed a three with under a second to play as the Emery Spartans suffered their first loss on the season to the Cougars, 58-56, in Roosevelt.
Emery jumped out to an early 10-point lead after one quarter before taking a seven-point lead into halftime, 25-18. Union chipped away at the Emery lead until Hullinger’s three at the buzzer sealed the win for Union. It was Hullinger’s only points of the game.
Bowdie Jacobson led all scorers in the game with 18 points, including two three pointers. Koby Butler poured in 15 and Zac Jorgensen added 11.
The Spartans (3-1, 0-0 Region 15) will host Beaver on Friday in Castle Dale. The game can be viewed live on ETV Channel 10 at 7 p.m.
