There was an all out battle between Emery and Grand on Tuesday night inside the Spartan Center.
The Lady Spartans took the first set 25-20. Grand rebounded, however, winning the next two sets 25-22 and 25-17. In a crucial fourth set, Emery pulled ahead 27-25. It all came down to the fifth and final set. Grand ended up finding its edge to take the deciding set 17-15. Emery battled hard but fell in heartbreaking fashion, 3-2.
Emery was all over the court, tallying 78 digs. Brynn Gordon led the way with 23 digs followed by Hallie Winn with 17 and Shayleigh Hrienson with 15. Winn also added 21 assists while Baylee Jacobson accounted for 16 assists. Leading the team in kills was Kaejha Johnson with 10. Madisyn Childs recorded nine of the team’s 17 blocks in the game.
The Lady Spartans (5-3, 1-1) will need to rebound quickly as they head to face their rivals in Carbon (8-2, 1-1) on Thursday.
