The Emery High Spartan Swim Team easily claimed the 2A Southern Division title on Saturday. Emery finished the championship meet with a team total of 347 points. The closest competitor to the Spartans was the Grand County Red Devils who finished in second place with 221 points.
In the boys division, Emery finished with 180 points followed by Grand 97, Delta 78 and Millard 15. Leading the way for the boys was Spencer Fauver who easily qualified for state in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle as well as the 200 medley and 400 yard freestyle relay, by placing first in each event.
Fauver’s 200 medley teammates include Kelven Childs, McKade Hansen and Justan Potter. Racing on the 400 freestyle relay team was Fauver, Potter, Levi Jensen and Kayden Parkins.
Also qualifying for state with first place finishes was Devin Wilson in the 200 IM and Childs in the 100 breaststroke.
Potter finished second in the 100 freestyle and the team of Hansen, Wilson, Parkins and Nate Gilbert placed second in the 200 freestyle relay and qualified for state.
The Lady Spartans finished the championship meet with 167 combined points. Grand followed with 124, Delta 72, Wasatch Academy 16 and South Sevier 14.
Madi Allinson lead the way for Emery qualifying for state in four categories. She finished first in the 500 freestyle and second in the 100 backstroke. Allinson together with teammates Kaitlyn Sailing, Laryssa Guymon and Chyanne Carter placed first in the 200 medley relay.
The team of Allinson, Guymon, Carter and Melece Pulli claimed first place in the 400 freestyle relay and advance to state.
Also placing first at last week’s meet was Guymon in the 200 IM, Carter in the 100 freestyle race and Guymon in the 100 breaststroke event.
Pulli placed second in the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle relay with teammates Jacie Huntington, Jamie Gilbert and Sailing.
All first and second place winners from the championship swim meet will advance to the state competition on Feb. 13.
