The Grand Red Devils came to town for a doubleheader against the Spartans on Wednesday. Koda Alton was the big story in the first leg, hitting a three-run homer and tallying five RBIs in the contest. Cade Brazier got the win, giving up two earned runs on five hits over five innings. He pitched a complete game as the mercy rule came into affect. The Spartans erupted with six runs in the second and eight runs in the fifth for the 15-5 victory.
Grand started off hot in the first inning of the second game, immediately scoring three runs. The Spartans responded well in the bottom half, loading up the bases and eventually pushing six runs across. Kyson Stilson had three hits in the game while Teagan Christmas went 2-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Alton pitched 6.2 innings and gave up two earned runs on two hits while striking out 11. Emery won 12-6.
Brax Jensen went a combined 4-6 (.667) in the two games and scored four runs for the Spartans. Emery will host North Sanpete on Tuesday, March 19.
