After earning a bye in the first round of the 3A Volleyball Championships, #1 Emery faced #16 Grantsville in the second round on Wednesday morning. The teams met at the state tournament at Utah Valley University at 9:30 a.m.
The Lady Spartans came out strong, asserting their dominance from the beginning. The Black and Gold made easy work of the first set, winning it 25-14. Emery followed that up with a 25-15 win in the second to take the 2-0 lead.
Grantsville fought back in the third as the teams traded points. The Lady Spartans showed why they deserve the #1 ranking by shutting the door with a 25-23 victory in the third to take the sweep.
