Stowe, Larsen Bring Home State Championships

Emery’s Camdon Larsen claimed the 3A Boys’ Cross Country Championship on Tuesday in Salt Lake City.

Local runners shined at the 3A Cross Country Championships in Salt Lake City on Tuesday. Two of those athletes were Rozlyn Stowe and Camdon Larsen, who both took the individual championship titles in their respective races.

Stowe is now a back-to-back state champion after taking the top prize as a freshman last year. On Tuesday, she crossed the finish line with a time of 17:45.4, over 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Emery’s Gentry Christiansen also had a standout day with her third-place finish as a freshman. She finished with a time of 18:28.9.

Fellow Lady Spartan Addyson Guymon cracked the top ten as well with a seventh-place finish (19:27.7). Carbon’s Sophie Taylor was just behind in eighth with a time of 19:29.4.

Other local runners included Addie Hurst in 17th (Emery, 20:47.8), Ellie Hanson in 19th (Carbon, 20:53.3), Ada Bradford in 26th (Carbon, 21:28.1), Carlie Hurst in 40th (Emery, 22:19.0), Melody Lake in 52nd (Emery, 22:57.0), Aly Bryner in 56th (Carbon, 23:12.8), Kallee Lake in 57th (Emery, 23:17.0), Hadley Meccariello in 59th (Emery, 23:19.8), Alexa Jones in 64th (Carbon, 23:37.3) and Kaylee Pitcher in 69th (Carbon, 24:06.7).

In the end, Ogden claimed the team championship with 69 points, followed by Canyon View with 94. The Lady Dinos earned third with 108 points with Emery just behind with 117.

On the boys’ side, Larsen capped off his senior campaign with a state championship. He finished the race with a time of 15:55.4, over six seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Dinos Easton Humes was another runner to crack the top ten with his seventh-place finish (16:33.5).

Other Spartans athletes that competed include Dillan Larsen (13th, 16:44.8), Mason Hurdsman (29th, 17:28.9), Mason Stewart (38th, 17:39.1), Monty Christiansen (52nd, 17:56.6), Jack Christiansen (55th, 18:02.6) and Stetson Albrecht (77th, 18:35.8)

For Carbon, other runners included Evan Criddle (26th, 17:25.9), Logan McEvoy (31st, 17:31.4), Bradley Sweeney (37th, 17:37.5), Dallin Humes (50th, 17:54.9) Mathew Stromness (58th, 18:09.6) and Michael Weber (59th, 18:11.9).

At the end of the day, Canyon View claimed the top prize as a team, followed by Manti and Ogden. Emery ended the day in fourth with 133 points while Carbon took sixth with 151 points.
